We are so happy to announce our newest philanthropic venture, which is a direct result of the rescues/shelters YOU nominated a few days ago.
Every month, we will select, based on voting, ONE Maine rescue /shelter to benefit from a portion of our sales. We will select one Sunday a month in which the shelter/rescue of YOUR choice will receive 5% of our daily total.
We have always believed in giving back to the community- specifically to rescues/shelters- as part of our business plan. We welcome rescues and shelters chosen to be on-hand for the big day to educate the public about their facility or group.
Thank you all for always being so supportive of our fundraising efforts- through Woofstock, the Fur Ball, 12 Woofs of Christmas, etc. Without you, we wouldn’t be able to do what we do!
We will have a poll out shortly for you to select the first recipients on August 1st.
Note: Voters households can vote once each day.

We vote for you everyday on the Animal Rescue Site also. We are so blessed to have been brought together by NEBR!

As the dog-mom of 6 rescued German Shorthaired Pointers, I applaud and am humbled by the steadfast dedication, around-the-clock efforts, and overwhelming love that all the volunteers of New England GSP Rescue devote to saving these incredible dogs and finding them new forever homes. GSPs are the best of all worlds: intelligent, energetic, and unbelievably loving. Thank you for supporting their life-saving work!

Just a note that everyone can vote once a day!
Dawn on said:
I’ve been trying to vote and it keeps telling me that my vote’s already been counted! But I haven’t voted yet.
One of my roommate’s having the same problem, but the other one can vote.
What gives?
Dan Martin on said:
Is there someone else who voted from the same location on a different computer maybe? It is determined by IP address, and browser cookies.
Dan Martin on said:
Sorry I only got half the message via e-mail. Seeing the full thing, that is what the problem is. It’s one vote per day, per ip address.
Dawn on said:
That kinda stinks. We all use the same computer, sharing expenses but w/ separate e-mail addies.
Dawn on said:
So really then, not *everyone* can vote once each day.
What about people in the same family who share internet and computers?
This really isn’t very fair.
Dan Martin on said:
I understand your frustrations, but speaking from a tech point of view it is actually fair as can be. If we didn’t limit per IP and cookie, one savvy person could easily and overwhelmingly tip the balance for everyone. Including against your rescue of choice.
However you do bring up a point of fairness that will have to be considered next month. In all fairness local maine shelters with far less resources, shouldn’t have to compete against regional to national based organizations with people in NY voting for a locally based fund raising.
Dawn on said:
Yes, I’m in NY, but I’m also w/in the coverage area of one of the rescues and I volunteer for them . . . and I haven’t even been able to put in a vote!
I appreciate, though, that you’ll consider making it more fair all around. Thanks for that.

This being the first time we have done this particular fund raiser, there were a few issues across the board we didn’t think of. The end result is every rescue/ shelter is under the same constraints and no matter who wins… It is for a good cause, and pets are being helped.
Myself, I didn’t take into consideration that the local chapters of all these fine organizations in the running have parent organizations that they are contained under. Next month we will be weighing a couple of options to even out the odds.
Despite only one person in your household being able to vote. I still maintain it is the fairest way to ensure votes are not negated from fraudulent voting activity. Which was occurring for a brief amount of time, the first day of voting, until I utilized the cookie and IP address restriction.
Dawn on said:
One thought might be to limit it to one vote per e-mail address. Yes, some people do have more than one e-mail addy, but it’s nothing like someone robo-voting or just sitting and voting over and over and over again.
I agree with you that in the long run it’s great that dogs are being helped. And I didn’t mean to sound petty; I’m just disappointed that I haven’t managed yet to be able to vote. My housemate’s voting for a different shelter than the rescue I volunteer for, which, by the way, does a lot of adoption in Maine!
I do want to thank you for the very generous thing you’re doing by offering part of your proceeds to shelter and rescue dogs! That’s a totally awesome thing to do!

Me on the other hand am a volunteer at a City pound.

Just so there’s no confusion, GSP Rescue NE is not a part of a larger orgnization. We are a 501 (c)3 incorporated in MA and handle any German Shorthaired Pointer dogs we’re asked to accept into our program from CT through ME. We are a ME licensed importer and have many adopters, volunteers and supporters in ME. We raise all of our own funds and do not receive financial assistance from a “parent” organization. Thank you for allowing us to participate in your poll. We did not realize we were entered until one of our supporters mentioned it a week after it was posted.
